The final Jacobite uprising ended here at Dumrossie moor on 16 April, 1746,
when the army of Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie) was defeated
by the Hanoverian government forces, led by the Duke of Cumberland.
1200 Highlanders died in battle that day.
Nearby Culloden House gave the battle its name.
